Beware Rinos, Says Sarah Palin
GOP Comes Unglued in New York
by
“If you want to have a conservative majority in Washington, part of that majority’s going to make you uncomfortable.”
So says former House Speaker Newt Gingrich defending his decision to endorse an ultra liberal Republican candidate in the special election for New York’s 23rd Congressional District even though she is a Margaret Sanger Award winner, who supports same-sex marriage, abortion-on-demand, and the Obama stimulus programs.
Republican candidate DeDe Scozzafava has received not only the backing of Planned Parenthood and The Daily Kos, but her campaign has also received financial endorsements from Mr. Gingrich, the Republican National Committee, and Republican leaders such as House Minority Leader John Boehner, and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor.
A dozen more GOP members, who are serving in Congress, shelled out thousands in cash to ensure her election.
Mr. Gingrich recently said that the election of Ms. Scozzafava could be the start of a “new Republican Revolution” that mirrors the “1994 Republican Revolution.”
On the Andrew Wilkow Show Wednesday, Gingrich explained his endorsement of Scozzafava by saying: “She’s dramatically better than the Democrat. She’s not the person I would have nominated [and] she’s not the person who fits my values 100 percent, but she is a heck of a lot better than the liberal Democrat,” stated Gingrich.
Ms. Scozzafava is running against Democrat Bill Owens, and Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman in the special November 3 election.
Connie Mackey, president of the Family Research Council’s Political Action Committee, believes those 17 House Republicans who support Ms. Scozzafava have abandoned the conservative values which have served to distinguish Republicans from Democrats.
“And if we can’t elect Doug Hoffman, frankly we do hope that we at least bring down the Republican candidate,” Ms. Mackey told the press.
Other prominent Republicans, including Sarah Palin, have come forth in support of Mr. Hoffman.
In her endorsement, Ms. Palin said: “I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York’s 23rd Congressional district. It’s my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law. Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a ‘time for choosing.’”
Newt also said Republicans must support the Republican selected whether you like it or not.
