Federal officials have issued a warning that the shooting death of a radical Sunni Islamic leader in Michigan on Wednesday night may engender retaliatory violence against law enforcement officers in Detroit, Atlanta, and even Washington DC.

Gunfire erupted during the arrest of Muslim gangster Luqman Abdullah and members of his group after Abdullah pulled a gun and shot and killed an FBI canine, according to a document from the Washington Regional Threat and Analysis Center (WRTAC).

FBI agents returned fire at the warehouse in Dearborn, Mich., and killed Abdullah, who was charged with selling stolen goods and illegal possession and sale of firearms.

“Abdullah’s death and associated arrests may foster resentment, violent rhetoric, and threats from Ummah adherents,” says the confidential WRTAC document.

The document issues this warning: “Because of the group’s anti-law enforcement sentiments, law enforcement officers should be particularly mindful of this change in the threat environment and the possibility for retaliation,”

As for implications in the D.C. area, the WRTAC maintains that “Ummah sympathizers or other similar groups may be operating in the National Capital Region. Officers should be alert for possible retaliatory actions as a result of the FBI Detroit raid.”

Supervisory Special Agent Katherine W. Schweit of the FBI’s Washington office declined to comment or even confirm the contents of the document.

The FBI was attempting to arrest Abdullah and 10 of his Muslim followers on charges of conspiracy to sell stolen goods and the illegal possession and sale of firearms.

Abdullah, an African American formerly known as Christopher Thomas had been under investigation for two years.

Abdullah, according to FBI officials, preached anti-government rhetoric, and some of his followers converted to Islam while in prison.

“He was anti-everything — anti-government, anti-police, you name it,” one federal law enforcement official told NBC News.

The mission of Abdullah’s group, according to FBI documents, was to establish a separate sovereign Islamic state governed by Sunni law – - not in a Third World country but within inner city Detroit. The group was known as the Ummah.  Its founder was Jamil al-Amin (H. Rap Brown), who is now cooling his heels in federal penitentiary for the murder of a deputy sheriff in Fulton County, Georgia.

After al-Amin’s incarceration, Abdullah assumed control of the Ummah.

Abdullah called on his followers to engage in an offensive jihad, NBC affiliate WDIV in Detroit reported. The purpose of the jihad was to secure Jamil al-Amin’s release from prison so that the former Justice Minister of the Black Panthers could serve as the head of the new Islamic state.

Seven suspects appeared at a detention hearing yesterday; the remaining four are scheduled to appear before in court on Thursday.

Authorities said an FBI dog also was shot and killed by Abdullah during the raid.

The Last Crusade joins Americans everywhere in mourning the loss of this brave canine.

The Community has requested that donations in the dog’s memory be sent to “Save A Dog”: http://www.saveadog.org
