President Barack Obama has come to an agreement with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to offer America’s official recognition of an independent Palestinian state with the old city of Jerusalem as its capital.
The Palestinian Authority Prime Minister is also seeking a UN Security Council resolution to replace Resolutions 242 and 338 in a bid to win the international support for the borders of the new Palestinian state.
The resolution is expect to apply stronger pressure on Israel to withdraw from the West Bank.
Several Israeli officials said that Prime Minister Fayyad had spoken to them of the positive responses he had received for the plan from Western European nations, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Sweden.
Concerns are growing in Israel’s government over the possibility of a unilateral Palestinian declaration of independence from Israel within the 1967 borders, a move which could may be ratified by the United Nations Security Council.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently asked the US administration to veto any such proposal.
President Obama has canceled a Tuesday speaking engagement with the United Jewish Communities General Assembly and instead will attend a memorial service for the American soldiers recently killed at Fort Hood, Texas.

It may be a bit dry and academic for one such as you, but give it your best effort. Justice demands that we deport the so-called “palestinians” back to their countries of origin, Egypt and Jordan… at least the ones that have not actually pulled a trigger or released a missile or built a bomb–the rest deserve a rougher justice.
