MASSIVE MANHUNT BEGINS AGAIN

by

Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

The Justice Department today announced charges against Adnan el Shukrijumah and four other members of al-Qaeda for plotting to bomb targets in the United States and United Kingdom.

The charges reveal that the 2009 plot against New York’s subway system, involving Colorado resident Najibullah Zazi was directed by Shukrijumah and other senior al-Qaeda leaders from their make-shift headquarters in Pakistan. The same plotters, according to the indictment, attempted to use Western operatives to attack a target in the United Kingdom.

The superseding indictment, which was unsealed in the Eastern District of New York, charges the following defendants each with several terrorism violations: Adnan El Shukrijumah, also known as “Hamad;” Adis Medunjanin, also known as “Mohammad;” Abid Naseer; Tariq Ur Rehman; and a fifth defendant known as “Ahmad,” “Sohaib” or “Zahid.”

Each of the defendants faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.

Although the FBI placed a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Shukrijumah and made him the subject of a massive manhunt, the federal officials neglected to obtain an arrest warrant even though FBI director Robert Mueller had labelled Shukrijumah “the most dangerous terrorist in the western hemisphere.”

Shukrijumah, a naturalized American citizen, attended Broward Community College, and, later, according to sources, enrolled as an engineering student at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, with other terrorists, in order to pilfer radiological material from the McMaster reactor in order to construct “dirty nukes” for deetonation at various sites throughout the U.S.

The arrest of Shukrijumah was deemed so vital to U.S. national security that a special office to oversee the manhunt was set up in Miami with a 24 hour hotline.

On March 7, 2007, Sean Michels, a correspondent for Global TV and a member of this investigative team, met with FBI Special Agent Andrew Lenzen, who has been appointed to spearhead the search for Adnan el Shukrijumah. The meeting took place in Miami at the request of Mr. Michels.

Agent Lenzen professed to have the only real insight into Adnan’s training as a jihadi and present whereabouts. “I know him almost like his mother,” he once told the press. “I’ve lived, slept and dreamed him for the past three years.”

During his conversation with Mr. Michels, Mr. Lenzen dismissed the findings of several leading investigative journalists and insisted that Shukrijumah was neither a pilot nor an engineer. He maintained that Shukrijumah and his family had no ties to southern Ontario and only made occasional visits to relatives in Montreal. He also insisted that the FBI was “following” the elusive Shukrijumah, not because he committed a crime, but because he had an extensive knowledge of computers.

Agent Lenzen’s assertions, however, are refuted by Adnan’s appearances at flight schools in Florida and Oklahoma, his academic records at Broward Community College, and the photographs from the Shukrijumah family album. For this reason, the Special Agent appears to have been either a disseminator of disinformation to lead the press and the public on a wild goose chase or a victim of the agency’s own misinformation.

According to today’s indictment, Saleh al-Somali and El Shukrijumah recruited Zazi and Zazi’s co-conspirators, Zarein Ahmedzay and Medunjanin, to conduct suicide bombings in New York City using improvised explosive devices made from supplies such as hydrogen peroxide, acetone, flour and oil.

Saleh, according to the court documents, communicated with Zazi through “Ahmad,” an al-Qaeda facilitator in Peshawar, Pakistan. In early September 2009, after Zazi constructed the detonator explosives for the attack, he emailed with “Ahmad” in Pakistan about the proper ingredients for the flour-based main charge explosive. Zazi pleaded guilty to his role in the New York subway plot on February 22, 2010; Ahmedzay similarly pleaded guilty on April 23, 2010.

The indictment adds formal charges against Shukrijumah recruited Zazi, Ahmedzay, and Medunjanin to return to the United States and conduct the attack on New York’s subway system.

The investigation by authorities in the United States and United Kingdom has revealed that “Ahmad” was also communicating with Manchester-based, United Kingdom resident Abid Naseer. Naseer, like Zazi, was in Peshawar, Pakistan in November 2008, according to the court filings.

After returning to the United Kingdom, Naseer sent messages back and forth to the same email account that “Ahmad” was using to communicate with the American-based al-Qaeda cell on behalf of Saleh, the indictment and court filings allege. In the messages, Naseer used coded language to refer to different types of explosives.

In early April 2009, Naseer, again using coded language, told “Ahmad” that he was planning a large “wedding” for numerous guests between April 15 and 20, 2009, and that “Ahmad” should be ready. Notably, “Ahmad” and Zazi had agreed on a similar code to mean the attack was ready to be executed, and Zazi emailed Ahmad that “the marriage is ready” just before he left Colorado for New York in early September 2009.

On April 8, 2009, Naseer and Rehman were arrested in the United Kingdom on terrorism charges. In connection with the arrests, U.K. authorities conducted searches of the plotters’ homes, where they found large quantities of flour and oil, as well as surveillance photographs of public areas in Manchester and maps of Manchester’s city center posted on the wall, with one of the locations from the surveillance photographs highlighted. Naseer is currently in custody in the United Kingdom. The United States intends to seek his extradition to face trial. Rehman is not in custody.

The superseding indictment also adds new charges to the pending indictment against Medunjanin. Specifically, the indictment charges that, in furtherance of the New York plot, and, after Zazi was already in custody, Medunjanin attempted to crash his car into another car on the Whitestone Expressway in Queens, N.Y. as a last attempt to carry out a suicide attack on American soil. Just before crashing his car, Medunjanin called 911 to identify himself and announce his intentions. Medunjanin remains in federal custody in the United States. No trial date has been set.

Medunjanin is charged with conspiring to use weapons of mass destruction; conspiring to commit murder abroad; providing and conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaeda; receiving military training from al-Qaeda; committing and attempting to commit an act of terrorism transcending national boundaries; and using firearms and a destructive device in relation to the above offenses.

Shukrijumah and “Ahmad” are each charged with providing and conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaeda; conspiring to use weapons of mass destruction; assisting the receipt of military training; committing and attempting to commit an act of terrorism transcending national boundaries; and using firearms in relation to the same offenses. “Ahmad” is also charged together with Naseer and Rehman with providing and conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaeda and conspiracy to use a destructive device in relation to the U.K. branch of the plot.

“These charges underscore the global nature of the terrorist threat we face. They further reflect the effectiveness of mutual investigations and cooperation with our global partners in disrupting terrorism threats. I thank our counterparts in the United Kingdom for their assistance in this investigation,” said David Kris, Assistant Attorney General for National Security.

“As today’s charges demonstrate, we will not rest in our pursuit of those responsible for plotting terrorist attacks,” said Loretta E. Lynch, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Lynch also expressed her gratitude to the law enforcement personnel, both domestic and foreign, who took part in the investigation.

FBI Executive Assistant Director Sean Joyce, National Security Branch said, “The threat posed by terrorists around the world is a threat to security and a threat to the rule of law. The transnational nature of this conspiracy, and its connection to plots targeted outside the U.S. underscores the importance of international coordination and collaboration to do everything we can to ensure public safety.”

“The charges announced today illustrate the coordinated and persistent attempts by our adversaries to harm American citizens,” said FBI New York Acting Assistant Director-in-Charge George Venizelos. “FBI personnel around the world are dedicated to working with our international law enforcement partners to uncover and thwart attacks.”

The investigation is being conducted by the New York, Denver and Miami FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces, as well as the Washington Field Office of the FBI. The North West Counter Terrorism Unit and Greater Manchester Police Department have also provided significant assistance.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, with assistance from the Counterterrorism Section of the Justice Department’s National Security Division. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida has also provided assistance in the investigation.

The release from the U.S. Justice Department neglected to make mention of the testimony of Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and other al Qaeda leaders that Shukrijumah has also been commissioned to create a “nuclear hellstorm” in major cities throughout the U.S.

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT NEGLECTS TO OBTAIN ARREST WARRANT FOR LEADING AL QAEDA OPERATIVE

F.B.I. OVERSIGHT “MIND-BOGGLING”

by

Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

U.S. officials believe that Adnan Shukrijumah, a top al-Qaeda figure, helped plot last year’s attempt to bomb the New York City subway system, according to the Associated Press.

Shukrijumah met with one of the would-be suicide bombers, unnamed current and former officials told AP. The Justice Department has named him in a draft indictment but not yet filed it. Some officials said they were concerned that the notoriety might impede efforts to collar him.

Najibullah Zazi, an Afghan immigrant who worked as an airport shuttle driver in Denver, pleaded guilty in February to conspiring to use weapons of mass destruction, conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and providing material support to a terrorist organization. The plot called for Zazi and two friends to detonate backpack bombs on subway trains during rush hour near the Grand Central and Times Square stations last September. Zazi said the plot was a response to the U.S. military campaign in Afghanistan.

FBI Director Robert Mueller has called Adnan el-Shukrijumah “the next Mohammed Atta,” adding that he represents “a clear and imminent danger to all Americans.”

Shukrijumah’s face has appeared on the front pages of newspapers and every televised news outlet throughout the United States and Canada.

A special office for information that might lead to his arrest — replete with a 24 hour hotline — has been set up in Miami, Florida.

Federal investigators have combed South and Central America with the hope of gleaning a scintilla of evidence that might shed light on his whereabouts. They even established an elaborate sting operation in Guyana, Trinidad, and New York (the JFK plot) to snag the elusive fugitive — but the operation only resulted in the creation of a virulent terrorist organization south of the border.

The Justice Department has placed a $5 million reward for any information leading to Adnan’s apprehension, and the same bounty for each of his alleged accomplices: Amer el-Maati, Jaber A. Elbaneh, Anas al-Liby, and Abderraouf Jdey.

But, Family Security Matters has learned, the U.S. Department of Justice, even after posting rewards, setting up hotlines, and issuing BOLOs (“Be-on-the-Lookout” alerts) has failed to issue criminal warrants for their arrest.

This oversight is mind-boggling. Adnan el-Shukrijumah has worked with Mohammad Atta and the other 9/11 operatives; he has masterminded a plan to launch a nuclear attack on American soil; he has attended leading al Qaeda gatherings, including the Waziristan Summit of 2004; he has conspired with Jose Padilla and others to blow up bridges and infrastructures in New York City.

The search for his present whereabouts is littered with corpses, including that of prominent Guyanese businessman Farouk Razac. Obtaining the necessary warrants would constitute the perfunctory matter of submitting a request to a federal judiciary.

But the basic procedural step of obtaining an arrest warrant was not undertaken by the U.S. Attorney General or any other official within the Justice Department.

Federal law enforcement officials explain this oversight by insisting that the issuance of a BOLO (Be-on-the-Lookout) and a warrant for el Shukrijumah as a material witness is all that is required to collar him.

They point out that suspected terrorists, under the guidelines of the Patriot Act, need not be fugitives who have been indicted by grand juries in U.S. District Courts. This is all well and good if Adnan if cornered within the U.S.

But, if he is sitting in a café in Canada or Mexico, neither the BOLO nor the warrant as a material witness will be sufficient to take him into custody and to extradite him for questioning by the FBI or Homeland Security.

“A material witness warrant has no weight at all in Canada,” explains a retired RCMP official who opts to remain anonymous “Our law enforcement officials cannot do anything unless there is a criminal offense that is extraditable.”

The failure to obtain arrest warrants remains coupled with other oversights of equally staggering proportions. On October 31, 2006, members of a well-known security company spotted Adnan el-Shukrijumah on the campus of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

They dutifully reported the sighting to the FBI and CSIS. They remain waiting for a response.

Similarly, a former Israeli intelligence official claims to have seen Shukrijumah on several occasions at a gas station in Toronto — less than an hour’s drive from Hamilton. The Israeli says that he contacted FBI officials at four different locations only to be encountered by bureaucratic indifference. The sighting remains to be investigated.

On January 25, 2007, a witness reported to Canadian and US officials that Adnan was living in an apartment complex in southern Ontario and that he made daily visits to the regional airport.

This tip also went unheeded despite concerns the witnesses expressed about their safety.

The F.B.I. has posted a $5 million reward for any information that will lead to el Shukrijumah’s arrest.

It is doubtful that anyone will collect it.

45 Years After Assassination

Farrakhan Never Charged

By
Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

Thomas Hagan, the only man to admit shooting Malcolm X was freed on parole yesterday – - 45 years after he gunned down the Black Muslim leader.

“He was released today. His release was approved,” said Linda Foglia, spokesman for the New York state department of correctional services.

Hagan, who confessed to the 1965 shooting of Malcolm X, had been partially free on work release for the last 22 years, although he was still required to spend two nights a week at a low-security New York City prison.

Hagan, 69, was a member of the Nation of Islam movement when Malcolm X was shot in New York while giving a speech to hundreds of people.

Two other men, Muhammad Abdul Aziz and Khalil Islam, were also charged with the murder. They maintained their innocence, but Hagan admitted at his 1966 trial that he was responsible for the slaying. All three men were sentenced to 20 years to life.

Hagan was placed on work release in 1988, according to a 2008 profile in the New York Post. At that time, he was spending free time with his wife and children, and was working in a fast food restaurant.

Malcolm X, before becoming an orthodox Sunni Muslim, had been a top Nation of Islam figure.

The assassins gunned him down out of anger at his split with the leadership of the Nation of Islam, the black Muslim movement for which he had once served as chief spokesman, Hagan said at the time.

Hagan, who was known as Talmadge X Hayer at the time of the shooting, has repeatedly expressed regret for his role in the assassination

In 1964, when Malcolm opted to abandon the Nation of Islam in order to establish Muslim Mosque, Inc. (MMI), an organization with ties to wealthy Saudi Sunnis, Elijah Muhammad said: “This hypocrite is going to get blasted off the face of the earth.“

In the December 4, 1964 issue of Muhammad Speaks, Louis “the Charmer” Farrakhan, who occupied Malcolm’s former position as Elijah Muhammad’s assistant and spokesman, wrote: “If any Muslim backs a fool like Malcolm in building a mosque, he would be a fool himself. . . . Only those who wish to be led to hell, or to their doom, will follow Malcolm. The die is set, and Malcolm shall not escape. . . . Such a man as Malcolm is worthy of death.”

Farrakan’s words served as a directive. On the early hours of February 14, Malcolm’s house in Queens was firebombed as he and his family slept. A week later, Malcolm was gunned down while addressing a crowd of 400 people at the Audobon Ballroom near Harlem. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Presbyterian Hospital.

The autopsy revealed that Malcolm had been hit 15 times with .9 mm caliber bullets and shotgun pellets, with 5 exit wounds. 9 bullets and pellets were retrieved from the body.

Malcolm hated America. He advocated racial violence and decried Christian values. “Christianity,” he said, “is a concocted religion based on lies to keep the black man ignorant.” He denounced Jews as “vampires” who “suck the life-blood of our community through their interests.” He advocated racial violence and met with Communist leaders, including Fidel Castro, to undermine American democracy. He encouraged blacks to shun military service and to refrain from pledging allegiance to the Stars and Stripes.

But the Black Muslim leader is lionized by contemporary America. His Autobiography remains required reading in high schools and colleges. A glossy movie of his life with Denzel Washington became an international success. And the United States Postal Service in 1999 has issued a special commemorative stamp in his honor.

Go figure.

UNIVERSAL CALIPHATE EMERGES FROM PENNSYLVANIA

OTTOMAN EMPIRE RESTORED?

CIA SERVES “WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS ISLAMIST”

Part Two

by

Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

Thanks to former CIA operative Graham Fuller and members of the U.S. State Department, Fethullah Gulen, dubbed “the most dangerous Islamist on planet earth,” has obtained permanent residency status and may remain within his mountain fortress in Pennsylvania for the rest of his life.

Mr. Fuller submitted a petition in favor of Gulen’s application for a green card to a federal judge in Philadelphia.

The ex CIA official said that Gulen merits shelter and protection within the United States because he is an individual with “extraordinary ability in the field of education.”

Gulen lacks a high school diploma.

Why would Fuller endorse an émigré who fled Turkey to escape charges of sedition for his attempt to overthrow the government and establish a New Islamic World Order?

The answer comes from the transcripts and investigative reporter Sibel Edmonds.

During the Clinton Administration, the CIA began to fund the Gulen and his movement with millions derived from drug trafficking – - including the revenues amassed by Turkish underworld figures (bubas) from the flow of heroin from Afghanistan through northern Iran to Turkey.

With the money, Gulen established radical madrassahs (Islamic schools) and cemaats (Muslim communities) throughout the Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmernistan and newly newly formed Russian republics in order to gain control of the vast oil and natural gas reserves of these developing countries.

The movement grew to attract more than six million Muslim adherents, who supported Gulen’s attempt to restore the Ottoman Empire and to establish a universal caliphate.

By 1999, the CIA began to support Gulen’s effort to topple the secular government in Turkey so that he could have a firm base to gain control of the newly created countries in central Asia.

When Turkish officials became aware of Gulen’s intent, they moved to arrest him on charges of sedition.

Gulen fled the country for the United States where he received special immigration status as “a religious worker.”

With billions in backing, Gulen established his mountain fortress in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, where he continued to puppeteer events in Turkey through the Justice and Democratic Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP) – - a political party of his creation.

With the elections of 2002, the AKP gained absolute control of the Turkish government.

Abdullah Gul, Turkey’s first Islamist President, is a Gulen disciple along with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, the head of Turkey’s Council of Higher Education.

Under the AKP, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into an Islamic country with 85,000 active mosques – - one for every 350- citizens – - the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians – - and thousands of state-run Islamic schools.

Despite the rhetoric of European Union accession, Turkey has transferred its alliance from Europe and the United States to Russia and Iran. It has moved toward friendship with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria and created a pervasive anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-America animus throughout the populace.

Thanks to Gulen.

In recent years, Gulen, from his Pocono hideaway, has gained support of his movement from Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Good night, Israel.

Several countries have become aware of the danger Gulen represents.

His movement has been outlawed in Russia and Uzbekistan.

Even the Netherlands, a nation that embraces pluralism and tolerance, has moved to cut funding to the Gulen madrassahs because of their imminent threat to the social order.

But Gulen’s dream of a New Islamic World Order continues to gain support and momentum throughout the Muslim world.

The CIA still nutures the belief that the Gulen movement will succeed in uniting the Muslims of Central Asia and, thereby, gain control of the natural resources of these countries for the so-called “good” of the American people.

Osama bin Laden’s notion of a universal caliphate is no longer an idle pipe dream.

That’s why Graham Fuller, former Deputy Director, endorsed Gulen’s application for permanent residency status.

Mr. Fuller presently serves as a consultant for the RAND corporation.

Other RAND consultants include former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Condoleeza Rice, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfield, and James Scheslinger, former secretary of Defense and Energy.

RAND, a so-called “think tank” that offers analysis to the Defense Department, has been labelled a CIA front.

In the past, Mr. Fuller has offered his ringing approval of other radical Islamic movements.

He characterized Tabligh Jamaat as “peaceful and apolitical preaching-to-the-people movement.”

Sheikh Mubarek Gilani came to the United States in 1969 as a Tabligh Jamaat missionary.

Ten years later, he formed Jamaat ul-Fuqra and established Islamic paramilitary compounds throughout the country.

Jamaat ul-Fuqra, under Gilani’s leadership, has been involved in more terror attacks on American soil (thirty and counting) than all the other terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda and Hezbollah, combined. It has and sponsored assassinations, kidnappings, mass murder, grand theft, and fraud. It was largely responsible for the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center.

But Gulen’s application was not only endorsed by Mr. Fuller but also by former Under Secretary of State Marc Grossman, and former Ambassador to Turkey Morton Abramowitz.

The significance of their endorsement is more revealing and disturbing.

Stay tuned.

The worst is yet to come.

FEDS FAIL TO MAKE TERROR CONNECTION

FAULTY OVERSIGHT SHOWS SAD STATE OF NATIONAL SECURITY

by

Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

thelastcrusade.org

Semion Mogilevich (also known as Mogelivich) now tops the FBI’S Most Wanted list.

The Russian crime boss, who set up an office in Newtown, Pennsylvania, stands accused of ordering assassinations, money laundering, passport crimes, mail fraud, and a host of other financial crimes.

Mogilevich bilked Canadian and US investors of more than $150 million through a bogus company called YBM Magnex International, which was incorporated in Pennsylvania.

YBM Magnex did not produce highly revolutionary and incredibly powerful magnets as its brochure proclaimed.

Though listed on the New York Stock Exchange, the company did not produce anything but hype and cash for Mr. Mogilevich.

His fraudulent scheme made him the subject of America’s Most Wanted, a Fox crime program with John Walsh.

But neither the FBI nor America’s Most Wanted appear to be aware of the depth of Mr. Mogilevich’s criminal activity, let alone the reason why he remains a threat to national security.

The Russian crime boss not only controls extensive natural gas pipelines in Eastern Europe but he also is the world’s leading illegal arms dealer.

Mr. Mogilevich specializes in state of-the-art weaponry. He provides the Taliban not only with AK-47s and AK-74s (Soviet assault rifles), Stalin Organ-style RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades), LAWs (light antitank weapons) and thousands of crates of land mines but also Stinger surface-to-air missiles and even Tomahawk AGM-86Ds, 550 mile-per-hour “smart bombs.”

But even this fact is not the reason for real alarm.

Mr. Mogilevich has sold nuclear materiel and devises to Osama bin Laden and the leaders of al Qaeda. Israeli intelligence has documented one sale of twelve to fifteen kilos of uranium-236. The uranium had been enriched to 85 percent – - far beyond the standards of enrichment for weapons-grade quality. For this transaction, Mogilevich received a relatively modest payment of $70 million

The Russian crime lord continues to be the leading supplier of weapons of mass destruction.

Will he be caught?

Probably not until the Department of Justice comes to realize the real scope of his criminal activity and the real reason he must be collared at all costs.
